W3R Commemorative Stoneware

The Alliance Française of Northwestern Connecticut (afnwct@snet.net) offers for sale stoneware bowls to commemorate the 225th anniversary of the 1781 Washington-Rochambeau March to Victory at Yorktown.  A classic ;piece and symbol of French-American friendship, they are a fine gift to offer history buffs or French friends.

Produced by Boston Pot & Tile of Woodbury, CT, the wide-rimmed bowls are stamped with motifs from the Revolutionary War uniform buttons: one French and one American.  The French stamp was made from a button actually found along the Connecticut route where the 22nd Battalion of Soissonais is known to have encamped.

The bowls are non-porous and food-dishwasher-safe though not recommended for use in microwave ovens. They are 7” in diameter and 1 ½” high with holes in the foot through which a wire can be inserted for hanging.

To purchase, send checks for $31 ($25 + $6 shipping) to the Alliance Française of  Northwestern Connecticut, Inc. P.O. Box 31 Woodbury, Connecticut 06798-0031.   A maximum of two bowls per shipment.

All proceeds from the sale of the bowls will go to the promotion of the French language and culture and French-American friendship.
